Pancake supper and hugs and kisses!

So Tuesday was Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras. In our house we celebrate with Crepes and Gallettes because who doesn't like them? (though I grew up with pancakes)

Yummy! I made gallettes (savory crepes) with bacon and gruyere/cheddar mix cheese with pepper. Then I made sugar crepes for dessert: basically a non-salty batter that once crepes are made, you can fill with anything! I like mine a la St. Germain des pres: Nutella banane!  Mr. K likes his with sugar or with jam. They serve the crepes folded in quarters in France, not rolled up. It makes it taste better I think, non?

Ash Wednesday was the day after (as always) but this year, it fell on my birthday.  I woke up to this:

I opted for a night at home to enjoy the quiet birthday as opposed to going out.  It was perfect.

My employer let me out a half hour early which was lovely. I got home at a great time! No traffic.

Mr. K suggested we could do anything.  I chose quite possibly the worst thing to do on a birthday if you were anyone but myself. I chose to work out with Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels on DVD.  But, this is why I love my husband.
He let me work out and he joined me! :-) That was so much fun.

Mr. K made dinner for me. Steak, green beans, vegetable rotini. Yum!

Then he surprised me with dessert:

 He gets me. Cheesecake is perfect. My achilles heel if you will...luckily only a small piece was all I could handle. Very sweet.

My mom sent me flowers, too! I got a package and voila! Iris and tulips (Hugs and Kisses). I love irises.  They are quite possibly my next favorite flower after roses. :-) Thanks Momma!

All in all, it was the perfect birthday!
